 TEARDROP – Sad Stories in the Rain
 Comic book artist Mario Cau (Terapia, Monstruário, Pieces, Dom Casmurro, etc.) will launch another independent publication in 2024, his second solo publication in English, following Vincent in Pieces (2023). The publication's theme is rain and the relationships we establish with it and because of it. These are short narratives where the reader is presented with small moments of everyday life seen through a poetic and introspective gaze and with an emphasis on visual narratives that evoke both the real and the metaphorical world.
 Teardrop features 6 stories from the Pieces series: “Rain for Us” and “Liquid” (published in Partes do Todo, 2016), “Rain'n'Sun” and “Ameagari” (Parte de Mim, 2021), as well as cover, illustrations and a comic book, “It's Raining Again”, unpublished, and a new version of “The Rain”.
 “The Rain”, specifically, has a different history: originally produced in 2006, it was the first solo Mario comic to be published in Brazil (Café Espacial 2, 2008) and in the USA (Negative Burn 16, 2008). Years later, it was republished in the “Old Lost Pieces” section of Part of Me (2021), a book that celebrates more than 15 years of the series, bringing together practically all the material produced between 2004 and 2021. For Teardrop, however, the story underwent a reformulation that involved changes to the script and had all the art and narrative rethought and redone. Teardrop also brings a sample of the original version of this comic.
 Teardrop marks the first time that a Pieces title has been published on Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing platform. The work is available in English in all international Amazon stores, in digital and print-on-demand formats. In Brazil, only the digital version can be purchased, both on Amazon and on the author's website (mariocau.com.br/shop). Other works by the author should continue to be made available by KDP.
